When there’s so much concrete, we soften the area with plants and mulch.
There’s quite a bit of concrete and stone in this backyard area so we softened it with butterfly and hummingbird friendly plants. Due to the space being west facing and enduring lots of heat in the summer, we chose a dark cedar mulch to help plants retain moisture. Once these shrubs and perennials mature over the next couple of growing seasons, it will also add a bit of privacy to the pool. We can’t wait to see this one grow and flourish with butterflies, bees and hummingbirds!
